Querétaro

Querétaro is the most beautiful Spanish word, according to the votes of thousands of Spanish speakers around the world during the Cervantes Institute competition as part of the celebration of the E day (the day when the Spanish language is celebrated all over the world). The Cervantes Institute, presided by the King of Spain, is an Institution created by Spain to promote and teach Spanish, with several centres all over the world.

The funny part is that "Querétaro" is not in the Spanish dictionary; Querétaro,  which means (in Purepecha, a native language) "island of blue salamanders" is one of the 31 states of Mexico. The capital of the State is also called Querétaro. Catalina's family live in that State so every time we visit we go to the City of Querétaro and enjoy its colonial environment and delicious food.

Querétaro es la palabra más hermosa del Español, de acuerdo con los votos de miles de personas de habla hispana durante la competencia del Instituto Cervantes como parte de la celebración de día E (el día del Español, que se celebra en todo el mundo). El Instituto Cervantes, cuyo presidente de honor es el Rey de España, es una Institución creada por España para promover y enseñar el idioma Español, con varios Centros en todo el mundo.

La parte curiosa es que Querétaro no está en el diccionario de la lengua Española; Querétaro, que significa (en Purépecha) "isla de salamandras azules" es uno de los 31 Estados de la República Mexicana. La capital del Estado también se llama Querétaro. La familia de Catalina viven en ese Estado así que cada vez que vamos a visitarlos viajamos a la Ciudad de Querétaro y disfrutamos su ambiente colonial y comida deliciosa.

The famous aqueduct, formed by 74 arches with an average height of 23 m are a symbol of Queréraro City, built between 1726 and 1738 to bring water to the City / El famoso acueducto, formado por 74 arcos con una altura promedio de 23 m es un símbolo de la ciudad de Querétaro, construido entre 1726 y 1738 para traer agua a la ciudad.

The statue of Conín, a native Mexican of the Otomi people who helped the Spanish conquer the central part of Mexico. In 1531 he helped found the City of Querétaro and was the first governor of the City / La estatua de Conin, un nativo Otomí que ayudó a los españoles a conquistar el centro de México. The Holy Cross convent, where the mortal remains of Doña Josefa Ortíz de Domínguez rest. She is a hero of Mexican independence from Spain and she was from Querétaro, a City that played an important role in the independence / El convento de la Santa Cruz, donde descansan los restos mortales de Doña Josefa Ortíz de Domínguez, una heroína de la independencia de México; ella era la Corregidora de Querétaro, una ciudad que jugó un papel importante en la independencia.
